Savannah Guthrie Calls on Public in Plea for Help Finding Missing Mom
Authorities have not declared a person of interest in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, who was last seen on Jan. 31
Savannah Guthrie has asked for the public’s assistance in locating her mother Nancy Guthrie, who was last seen on Jan. 31. As the investigation moves into its second week, Guthrie has shared a new Instagram video, acknowledging that “law enforcement is working tirelessly around the clock trying to bring her home, trying to find her,” but noted that the Guthrie family is “at an hour of desperation and we need your help.”
“She was taken and we don’t know where, and we need your help,” the Today host shared on Monday, Feb. 9. “So I’m coming on just to ask you, not just for your prayers, but no matter where you are — even if you’re far from Tucson — if you see anything, you hear anything, if there’s anything at all that seems strange to you, that you report to law enforcement.”
Guthrie, as well as her sister and brother, “believe our mom is still out there,” she said. “We believe that somehow, someway, she is feeling these prayers and that God is lifting her even in this moment and in this darkest place.”
On Feb. 8, Guthrie and her siblings addressed their mother’s alleged kidnapper in an Instagram video. “We received your message, and we understand,” she said. “We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her.” Guthrie nor authorities have detailed the message they received. “This is the only way we will have peace,” Guthrie continued. “This is very valuable to us. And we will pay.”
Authorities have not publicly revealed a person of interest in the case. Nancy, 84, is believed to have been taken from her home against her will. She is without the medication she is required to take daily. Last week, the FBI announced that a $50,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the recovery of Nancy and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.
