Netflix has just unveiled a trailer for what could emerge as one of their finest new films of the year.

This forthcoming natural disaster thriller appears ideal for enthusiasts of movies such as The Day After Tomorrow or Twisters.

Furthermore, it’s also been crafted in South Korea with director Kim Byung-woo leading the project alongside some recognisable faces in the cast, making it essential viewing for streamers yearning for fresh episodes of Squid Game.

It even showcases Park Hae-soo, who appeared in the inaugural season of Netflix‘s acclaimed K-drama, alongside Itaewon Class’s Kim Da-mi.

A synopsis states: “A great flood engulfs the world. In the midst of a massive catastrophe, water rises inside an apartment building.

“With no hope in sight, one person fights desperately to save a child.”

Launching just ahead of Christmas, on Friday, 19th December, the film is developing into a tension-filled viewing experience for the festive period once the younger family members have retired for the evening.

Streamers are already becoming enthusiastic about the thriller as they rushed to the comments section after Netflix‘s latest trailer was posted on YouTube.

One user penned: “This gave me chills!! Kim Da-mi and Park Hae-soo are mind-blowing pairing.

“Korean cinema never disappoints… this is going to be on another level.”

Another person remarked: “This is why I love Netflix. So many bangers especially Korean shows and movies.”

One excited viewer exclaimed: “OMG, Kim Da-mi AND Park Hae-soo!!!! This is going to be spectacular, they are both excellent actors!!! I can NOT wait!!!!”

Another fan was quick to add the film to their viewing schedule, stating: “Ah yes, welcome to my watchlist, beautiful movie.”

“Disaster Movie. Korean. Absolutely locked in for this,” another viewer pledged.

And one simply responded: “This looks stunning and amazing.”

So, is The Great Flood already on your December watchlist?

The Great Flood will be released Friday, 19th December on Netflix.
