Netflix has unveiled another compelling drama film adapted from a phenomenal bestselling book.

Boasting stellar casting and directed by the filmmaker behind another beloved literary adaptation, Remarkably Bright Creatures arrives on 8th May.

Drawing from Shelby Van Pelt’s debut novel, the film is eagerly awaited by countless readers after the book dominated the New York Times bestseller list for an extraordinary 64 weeks.

Netflix‘s official description states: “A widow who works at a local aquarium finds joy again when she forms an unlikely bond with a giant Pacific octopus and a wayward young man who comes to town in search of family.

“Together, they uncover a mystery that will lead them to a life-changing discovery and restore their sense of wonder”, reports <a href=”https://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/netflix-remarkably-bright-creatures-movie-36515256″ rel=”Follow” target=”_self”>the Mirror</a>.

Double Oscar winner Sally Field takes on the role of widow Tova, starring opposite Lewis Pullman, the rising talent from Thunderbolts* and Top Gun: Maverick.

Olivia Newman, who previously adapted Where the Crawdads Sing featuring Daisy Edgar-Jones, directs from a screenplay by John Whittington (Sonic the Hedgehog 3).

The ensemble also features notable performers including Colm Meaney (Bring Them Down), Joan Chen (The Wedding Banquet), Kathy Baker (Edward Scissorhands), Beth Grant (Little Miss Sunshine) and Sofia Black-D’Elia (The Night Of). First released in 2022, Remarkably Bright Creatures has garnered a devoted fanbase over the years who will undoubtedly be delighted to witness its screen adaptation.

Goodreads is brimming with glowing five-star testimonials, with one enthusiastic reader declaring: “BRILLIANT!!! HEARTWARMING!!! WITTY!!!! A TRIUMPH!!!! I laughed out loud and sobbed my pretty little eyes out.

“If you have not read this book do yourself a favor and please do,” another devotee urged.

“How can you not fall in love with this book and the characters, especially Marcellus the giant octopus, and his observations of the human species.

“The fact that this was a debut book just blows my mind away. This story was entertaining, funny, cozy, full of love and friendship. This story is not my usual read but I am so happy I went out of the box and read it! The writing is so vibrant, emotional, captivating, and heartwarming. Now I just want a best friend who happens to be an octopus.”

One final admirer proclaimed: “This is a stunning debut! The writing is superb and the storyline is so endearing. I loved all characters, but specially the octopus. What a brilliant concept!”

Be sure to place what promises to be an uplifting and soul-stirring tale at the summit of your Netflix viewing list this spring.
