Watch Carrie Underwood Cover Limp Bizkit at Velocity Festival
The country singer performed a series of nu-metal covers at the Iowa music festival on Saturday
Carrie Underwood took on a series of nu-metal covers during her set at Velocity Festival in Dyersville, Iowa, on Saturday. The singer surprised the crowd by showcasing Collective Soul’s “Shine,” Papa Roach’s “Scars,” Linkin Park’s “One Step Closer,” and Limp Bizkit’s “Break Stuff.”
Underwood even donned a backwards red hat in honor of Limp Bizkit singer Fred Durst as she showcased “Break Stuff,” the rock band’s 1999 hit.
Underwood’s cover choices aren’t really a surprise. The singer has often pointed to her love of rock music and collaborated in the genre. She famously performed multiple times with Guns N’ Roses’ Axl Rose, brought out Joan Jett at her 2019 CMA Fest set, and regularly covers Motörhead’s “Ace of Spades” in concert.
In 2024, she teamed up with Papa Roach for an updated rendition of their song “Leave a Light On (Talk Away the Dark). Last year, Underwood joined the group on stage in Las Vegas to showcase the collaboration and to perform the band’s hit “Last Resort.”
Earlier this year, during the May 11 finale of American Idol, Underwood joined Mötley Crüe for performances of “Home Sweet Home” and “Kickstart My Heart.” She had notably recorded a version of “Home Sweet Home” in 2009 for the American Idol Season 8 farewell song.
Underwood headlined the second day of Velocity Festival, a three-day event at Field of Dreams. Shinedown headlined Friday alongside Lynyrd Skynyrd, while Creed closed the weekend Sunday with Nate Smith and Filter.
