Aldi has confirmed the date of its major school uniform sale – with the return of a £5 offer to help parents get prepared before the next school term starts in September. The store claims that shoppers “must be quick” because the range, starting at just £1.50, will be available in stores from June 28, while stocks last.

As part of the school uniform sale, the budget supermarket is bringing back its popular £5 uniform bundle. Available in a range of sizes from ages four to 12 years, the bundle includes a choice of two high-quality Girls’ Polo Shirts (£1.75) with ruffle collar detail or classic Boys’ Polo Shirts (£1.75), both available in white or blue.

There is also a navy or red Sweatshirt (£1.50) or smart Cardigan (£1.50) in red, and a choice of either girls and boys durable Trousers (£1.75), a Pleated Skirt (£1.75) or versatile Cargo Shorts (£1.75) in grey.

The bundle comes with a 12-month satisfaction guarantee. Aldi says: “So parents can rest easy knowing the uniform is made to last and will get their kids through the year.”

Aldi is also selling footwear from £7.99 in a choice of three girls’ and two boys’ styles. The supermarket said: “All with a memory foam insole cushioning every step from the classroom to the playground, they’re designed to keep kids comfortable from the first bell until the last. Complete the necessities with a five-pack of Ankle or Knee-High Socks (£2.49).”

And, new for this year, parents can pick up a range of Back to School Hair Accessories (£1.99) with a variety of styles from practical headbands, clips and bows to colourful ties and scrunchies in school-ready shades of blue, red, or green.

The average school uniform costs about £340 for primary school and £454 for secondary school each year – typically including compulsory branded items, generic clothing, PE kits, and school shoes. Where possible, these affordable Aldi options could help parents.

From this September, schools will be required by law to cap the number of branded uniform items to three (excluding ties) under new legislation as part of the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill. In previous reports, officials say this would save parents up to £50 per child.

What items will Aldi be selling from Thursday, June 28?

Shoppers can see the full list of upcoming Aldi offers here. Ordering items from Aldi’s website is not possible, meaning shoppers have to try their local supermarket branches.
