It’s no secret the UK is home to some of the best beaches in the world with their incomparable views and inviting blue waters enticing travellers from all over the world. But it’s not only humans that feel the pull.

Scattered across Britain are a number of beaches that are perfect little havens for dogs — beckoning our four-legged companions to their (sandy, rocky, or shingly) shores and shimmering waters.

However, not all beaches in the UK welcome our beloved furry friends all year long. In fact, most of them have a seasonal dog ban in place which comes into effect in May.

A vast majority of beaches across the UK see a seasonal dog ban come into place, usually starting from May 1 till September 30. There are also some dog bans on beaches that begin a little later, from May 15.

For those who want to see their dogs frolicking on the beach all year round without any restrictions, we’ve curated a list of the UK’s best all‑year‑round dog‑friendly beaches.

From Wales in the west and Scotland in the north to the counties covering all the major coasts of England, we have the ultimate beach guide for you and your furry companions.

Rhossili Bay (Swansea, Wales)

Boasting three miles of sandy shoreline, the views at Wales’ Rhossili Bay are incomparable. It’s no wonder then, that it’s regularly voted as one of the UK’s (and even the world’s) best beaches.

Rhossili Bay Beach is a certified doggy dream, with golden sands, shallow surf and zero dog bans all year. Not only does Rhossili Bay provide ample huge spaces for dogs to explore, it’s ideal for off-lead walking as well.

Described as ‘the supermodel of British beaches’ by The Independent, Rhossili is arguably one of the best surf spots in Wales. In fact, The Times even nominated it as the ‘UK’s No 1 dog-friendly beach’. Dolphin and seal sightings only add to Rhossili’s picturesque charm.
