Shaboozey Taps Ciara Miller for ‘Cowgirl’ Performance on ‘Fallon’
The country singer’s new album, The Outlaw Cherie Lee & Other Western Tales, is out Friday
Shaboozey stopped by The Tonight Show to showcase his recent single, “Cowgirl.” The singer enlisted Summer House star Ciara Miller, who appeared in the music video for the track, for the rousing performance.
Shaboozey and his band appeared in a Western bar-themed set, complete with a sign depicting the name of the singer’s new LP. Miller made a surprise arrival midway through the track to dance on the stage alongside Shaboozey.
“Cowgirl” comes off Shaboozey’s forthcoming concept album, The Outlaw Cherie Lee & Other Western Tales. The LP, out July 31, was several years in the making, and includes numerous features, including Kehlani, Gunna, Leon Bridges, and Orville Peck.
“It’s a Western about revenge told continuously through every song, centered on the character Cherie Lee,” Shaboozey explained in a statement. “It explores so many themes, as many timeless Westerns have: revenge, redemption, and romance, through the eyes of a protagonist looking to challenge everything she once thought true about her world.”
He told Rolling Stone’s Nashville Now podcast in May that there is a cinematic element fo the album. “It was always my dream to put all the things I love about movies and music and stories into one cohesive body of work that I felt like people in today’s current music landscape aren’t really doing,” the singer explained. “The Outlaw Cherie Lee came from my love for strong female protagonists. Quentin Tarantino is one of my favorite directors. He did Kill Bill with Uma Thurman, Jackie Brown with Pam Grier.”
Shaboozey will head on tour this fall in support of the album. His Outlaws Never Die Tour kicks off Sept. 8 in Phoenix and continues through the end of October.
