Aldi makes major change affecting 1,000 UK stores

Aldi is set to slash prices on more than 330 products, giving customers the chance to stretch their budget further during the summer holidays. The supermarket giant, which has 1,080 stores in the UK at the time of writing, has grown into one of the UK’s largest retail chains.

Its rapid expansion has been fuelled by a simple approach, including a carefully selected product range, a strong focus on own-brand goods and keeping prices competitive for shoppers. Aldi’s announcement will see a further £100million invested in the reduction of common food and household items. From fridge and freezer favourites to kitchen cupboard staples and household essentials, Aldi’s latest price cuts are helping shoppers save across their weekly shop.

The cuts mean Aldi has now reduced the prices of more than 1,000 products so far this year, with a total investment of £300million to keep grocery bills as low as possible.

Some of the biggest savings include selected British steaks, with shoppers able to save 80p on the supermarket’s 21-Day Matured Sirloin Steak, which is now priced at £4.49, and its 21-Day Matured Ribeye Steak, priced at £4.59.

Fresh produce has also seen 40p off packs of four nectarines and 22p off honeydew melons.

Meanwhile, cheese lovers can pick up Aldi’s Specially Selected Cheddar range (350g) for £2.99, a saving of 40p, while other family favourites have also been reduced. Diced Chicken Breast (600g) now costs £3.99, down by 30p, while Filled Pasta has fallen to £2.19.

The savings extend beyond food, with Aldi’s Lacura SPF50+ Sensitive Lotion now priced at £2.99, reduced from £3.29, perfect for the UK heatwave we are currently experiencing.

Alongside the price reductions, the retailer has brought back its Summer Support Scheme, which will see £50 grocery shops given away to families every day throughout July and August.

We’re committed to keeping prices low on popular products because we know it can make a real difference, helping families to make the most of the summer.”

It will also create new jobs for people in the area, and with Aldi being the UK’s highest paying supermarket, the new locations could make a real change in the community. Aldi will invest more than £370million in new stores to achieve its long-term goal of 1,500 stores nationwide.
