An exhilarating new action film starring Jason Statham is set to hit cinemas this summer.

The “fast-paced” crime thriller is a Sky Original production featuring “high stakes” and an “exceptional creative team” at the helm.

Film enthusiasts will be thrilled to learn that the project has assembled a star-studded ensemble, featuring recognisable faces from some of Britain’s most beloved television programmes.

Actors from series including Peaky Blinders, Death in Paradise and Silent Witness all appear alongside Statham in the new big-screen venture.

The picture is helmed by Jean-François Richet, who previously directed the Gerard Butler vehicle Plane, while Statham also serves as a producer.

Mutiny, which sees Statham assume the leading role of Cole Reed, opens in UK cinemas on August 21 and will become available to stream on Sky Cinema later this year, reports The Mirror.

The synopsis from Sky states: “After witnessing his billionaire boss’ murder and being framed for the crime, Cole Reed (Statham) boards a cargo ship on a one-man crusade to avenge his boss’ death, only to discover an international conspiracy.”

Annabelle Wallis, recognised for playing Grace Burgess in Peaky Blinders, will feature alongside Statham in the new picture.

Additional cast members of Mutiny include Ramon Tikaram, whom BBC viewers will remember from programmes such as EastEnders and Death in Paradise, and Atomic Blonde star Roland Møller.

Arnas Fedaravičius, known for his roles in Shetland, The Last Kingdom and The White Lotus, will also feature alongside Silent Witness star Jason Wong and acclaimed actor Adrian Lester.

Andrew Orr, Head of Original Film at Sky, said: “We are delighted to be working with Jason Statham again after the incredible success of The Beekeeper.

“Our audience love premium action films and Mutiny delivers on every level. It is a fast‐paced, high‐stakes thriller driven by an exceptional creative team, making it a perfect addition to Sky’s Original film slate.”

Responding to the newly released trailer for Mutiny on YouTube, enthusiastic fans were quick to express their admiration for Statham’s work, with one commenting: “Jason Statham is now a movie genre.

“The only person who can play the same character in a million different movies and I’d still watch it,” another person admitted.

“He’s back again. We need 2 movies every year please,” a third person chimed in, while one more added: “My favorite movie genre. Jason Statham killing bad guys.”

Mutiny is coming to cinemas on August 21 and will be available to watch later this year on Sky Cinema.
