The season for layering is here, and nothing beats a warm fleece to take the edge off nippy winter days. Currently, Weird Fish is selling its popular Beye ¼ Zip Grid Fleece in grass green for £30 as part of its sale, with 50% off the full price of £60.

For those who want a wardrobe upgrade for even less, Daily Express readers can get an extra 22% off the sale price. By using the exclusive code ‘ABF22’, this brings the total cost down to just £23.40.

Constructed from a grid-textured material made from 88% recycled polyester and 12% viscose, the fleece locks in heat while a zip-up collar keeps draughts out, but the garment is lightweight enough for milder days, too. It’s also quick to dry and can be machine washed at 30 degrees.

The fleece comes in 10 different colours, with contrasting detail on the cuffs and hem. Grass green, navy, and tarragon cost £30 (plus 22% off with code ‘ABF22’), but the rest – including hot coral, sky blue and ecru – are currently £42. Sizes run from 8 to 22, although some are sold out in certain colours.

An even cosier option is Marks & Spencer’s borg funnel neck half zip sweatshirt, made from a fluffy fleece material and with convenient side pockets to keep hands warm. It comes in cream and a greyish ‘thunder’ colour, in sizes XS to XL. Costing £36, it also qualifies for M&S’s £60 Beauty Advent Calendar promotion.

Those after something bolder could try the Next soft-touch teddy borg quarter zip fleece, which comes in eye-catching two-tone patterns like chocolate brown/pink leopard or pink/ecru check. At £32, it’s available in sizes XS to 2XL with petite options available.

However, shoppers are largely impressed with the Beye grid fleece, which is rated 4.7 out of five, and has more than 2,500 reviews on the Weird Fish website. In fact, one customer bought several, saying: “I already have this top in pink and love it. It’s so warm, soft, and cosy even after many washes. So when I saw the sky blue and tarragon ones on offer, I had to buy one for my sister (sky blue) and the tarragon one for me.”

A second chimed in with more praise, writing: “It’s good quality, soft and warm. Great price. Colour is lovely. Texture is something different in a nice way.” While a third simply added: “Lovely warm sweatshirt and great value.”

One buyer did have a suggestion, saying: “Love the colour and quality. The only thing missing is a pocket.” Another commented on the fit: “Lovely colour and quality, bit short in the body.”

The Beye ¼ zip grid fleece jumper is available from Weird Fish, starting from £30, with an extra 22% off the sale price with the code ‘ABF22’ for Daily Express readers.
