Urgent recall for pesto, baby snacks and 15 perfumes – ‘stop using’

Several well-known food items and products have been recalled this week, with urgent notices having been issued. Shoppers have been advised to immediately stop using any of the affected products.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has published multiple recall notices covering pesto and baby snacks. The issues stem from undeclared allergens and concerns surrounding mould contamination. Meanwhile, the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has issued a recall for 15 designer and celebrity perfumes after it emerged they contain banned ingredients. Pesto

Filippo Berio UK is recalling its Filippo Berio Hot Chilli Pesto due to undeclared fish content that does not appear on the packaging. The affected product is sold in a 190g pack, carrying batch code LR319 and a best-before date of May 15, 2028.

The FSA said: “This product contains fish, making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to fish. Filippo Berio UK is recalling the above product from customers and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.

“The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.

“If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to fish, do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.”

Baby snack

A selection of Organic Baby Fromage Frais products from Glenisk have been recalled this week. The FSA said: “These products may contain mould which makes them unfit for human consumption.”

The FSA said: “If you have bought the above products, do not eat them. Instead, dispose of them and contact Glenisk.” Glenisk has additionally issued a recall notice to customers, confirming that mould may be present within the products.

The company stated: “We kindly ask consumers to discard affected products. Retailers have been advised to remove affected batches from sale. If you have purchased one of the affected products, please contact us at info@glenisk.com, and our team will be happy to arrange a replacement.”

Designer and celebrity perfumes

Savers Health and Beauty stores have issued a recall notice for 15 fragrances due to the presence of harmful ingredients. The banned chemicals may pose a risk to the reproductive system, the health of an unborn child and may cause skin sensation.

Some of the perfumes, which include CK One, Jean Paul Gaultier Classique and FCUK Original, contain hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene carboxaldehyde and butylphenyl methylpropional.
