Dear Leadership Team,

Thank you for participating in the two-day workshop “Leaning Into the St. Guinefort Brand,” presented by BrandingSolutions. The $500K fee (raised through an additional collection at Sunday Mass) was well spent. Key insights included the growing number of Catholics in the U.S., Pope Leo’s popularity as the first American pope and PRNewswire’s report that “graduates of Catholic colleges report greater daily engagement with artificial intelligence and feel better prepared by their schools to navigate ethical tech challenges compared to peers from secular institutions,” all of which give St. Guinefort additional market advantage in today’s competitive admissions landscape.

The discussion regarding our greyhound mascot was especially fruitful—many people may not know St. Guinefort was a dog who saved a child. It is important to remember our strong brand position: At St. Guinefort College, we are all greyhounds, swiftly serving one student at a time. We educate Catholic citizen leaders who get jobs after graduation and go to confession.

After our spirited roundtable discussions, Sister Mary Robert compiled a list of ways each area could heighten brand awareness by developing new brand touch points and traditions. Please review the following ideas, assign costs and benefits, and rank them 1–5 (1 being easy to implement or “low-hanging fruit” and 5 being difficult to implement or “long-term commitment”) using the attached Excel template. Return to Sister Mary Robert by tomorrow (COB), so she can tabulate the results and prepare a slide deck for next week’s leadership team meeting.

Here are the cross-divisional ideas generated:

  1. Brand 8’x10′ single- to triple-room conversions as “monastic cells.”
  2. Open a new dining option: Now that Popeyes is changing its name to Louisiana Kitchen, create a new dining space, “Pope-Yes,” featuring Chicago-style hot dogs and pizza.
  3. Initiate “Feast Day Feasts” honoring saints such as St. Sebastian with skewer/food-on-a-stick themed food; St. Bartholomew, featuring an array of filet-of-fish options; St. Agatha, serving various dishes using chicken breasts and cassatella di sant’Agata for dessert; or St. Lawrence, serving items from the grill.
  4. Include a Joan of Arc first-person interpreter at the convocation bonfire.
  5. Develop a Catholic film series featuring movies such as Pecker, Female Trouble, The Godfather I & II, Sister Act I & II, Moonstruck, The Bells of St. Mary’s, Rocky and Rudy.
  1. Implement “Have a Blessed Day” (targeting students from the South) where students can bring any item to the chapel to be blessed by the current bishop.
  2. Include school-colored rosaries in swag bags for Parents’ Weekend.
  3. Rename health center. Options: St. Denis (patron saint of headaches) or Virgin Mary Center (tagline: “prayers, not penetration”).
  4. Hold a campus common hour for confessions after home football game weekends.
  5. Create Cabrini parking passes. Mother Cabrini image can be featured on one side and “Mother Cabrini, Mother Cabrini don’t be a meany, help me find a space for my little machine-y” on the other (facing the driver).
  6. Add Venmo, Apple Pay, etc. options for lighting candles at the Greyhound Grotto.
  7. Offer hair shirts at the campus bookstore (discount during exam week).
  8. Advertise “Day of Fasting” and close dining services (also saves money).
  9. Serve fortified wine and wafers at Annual Alumni Wine Tasting Event.
  10. Offer St. Guinefort College–branded indulgences with scholarship endowment gift agreements.
  11. Rename Student Success Office. Options: St. Jude Center (patron saint of lost causes) or St. Rita Center (patron saint of impossible feats)
  12. Rename computer lab. Option: St. Isidore Lab.
  13. Give away branded scapulars with every completed application.
  14. Hold a “Pope Day” once a semester for football, basketball and baseball teams.
  15. Redesign the college logo to include a baby holding a St. Guinefort banner on the back of the greyhound (same concept for the mascot costume). Please note: We already have offers from employees to use their baby in illustrations, photos or first-person interpretations videos.

Thank you for all your creativity, commitment and love of St. Guinefort. I look forward to our next discussion and implementing these compelling ideas.

Bless you,

Sister Mary Clarence, O. Carm.
