Shoppers have been left astounded by the clothing section in their local Tesco stores, with many declaring it the ‘new Zara’ thanks to its wallet-friendly prices. High street fashion giant Zara has long been celebrated for its on-trend clothing, with items frequently going viral across social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, causing them to fly off the shelves.

However, amid the ongoing Cost of Living crisis, increasing numbers of shoppers are turning to more affordable retailers for their fashion fix. And some have been genuinely surprised to discover they can browse for clothes while doing their weekly food shop. Taking to TikTok, one woman named Naya shared her astonishment upon realising that Tesco has become one of her go-to destinations for clothing, drawing comparisons to Zara in the process.

“Guys, can we talk about how Tesco is the new Zara?” Naya said at the start of her video. “Like, if you’re not shopping in Tesco every other week to see what the F&F is saying, then what are you doing?”

F&F is Tesco’s own fashion label, available in the majority of its supermarkets, with certain stores boasting sizeable dedicated clothing sections. The range has proved a hit with shoppers seeking stylish yet budget-conscious options.

Naya went on to reveal that she had recently purchased the purple collared top with gold buttons she was sporting in the video, even creating a separate clip to showcase it more effectively, before once again drawing her comparison to Zara.

“I bought this [top] for £10.50, it was £27.50. It is Zara material. I saved £17,” Naya revealed. “I’m not even joking, like, get to Tesco,” she urged her viewers.

Naya wasn’t alone in spotting this similarity, as numerous viewers quickly flooded the comment section to share their own observations. “SHHHH, don’t let them know about the Clubcard 25 per cent off,” one viewer commented, referencing the discount that Clubcard holders frequently receive on all F&F clothing items at Tesco stores.

A second viewer said: “I was just saying this yesterday, Tesco F&F is tea!!! Available online too!”

“It’s been good for a long minute now. Zara isn’t doing it again,” a third person commented.

And it’s not just Tesco’s fashion line that has caught attention from shoppers, as another viewer went on to praise other clothing lines. “Even Asda clothing… I was gatekeeping for time but let me put the girlies on,” someone else shared, while another added: “And don’t get me started about George !”

Meanwhile, another viewer also said: “TU Sainsbury’s has me in a choke hold.” This follows news that Tesco customers were thrilled to discover that F&F changing rooms were returning to stores, having been closed since 2020.
