Before her set at Lollapalooza, the singer-actress went deep on favorites like Sophie B. Hawkins, Donna Lewis, and more

The last time Suki Waterhouse performed at Lollapalooza was in 2023, when she was three months pregnant. “I was wearing a catsuit,” she tells Rolling Stone. “You couldn’t really tell, but I could tell from the pictures, because I had the biggest boobs my life. They were amazing! I was sometimes feeling quite nauseous, but having a great time nonetheless.”

Three years later, Waterhouse is back, fresh off the release of her excellent new album, Loveland. She took part in another round of Rolling Stone‘s Song Shuffle series, ready to discuss her current listens. First up: Sophie B. Hawkins’ “Swing From Limb to Limb (My Home Is in Your Jungle),” from 1994’s Whaler. “You guys have to go in and listen to this song right now,” Waterhouse says. “She is so horny and sexy. It’s hot. It’s slightly Cocteau Twins, like alt-dreamy indie pop.”

Donna Lewis’ massive 1996 pop hit “I Love You Always Forever” appeared next — which Waterhouse says currently plays after each of her shows on the Loveland tour. “I just think it’s one of the most beautifully written songs ever, actually,” she said. “And it just puts me in the best mood.”

Asked what she hopes her audience feels like when they exit her shows, she said, “I hope they feel like making moves. I hope they feel back to themselves. I hope they feel hopeful. I hope they feel like they’ve had a memory they can store somewhere inside, some kind of collective memory.”

After a cameo from Sombr, the interview continued with some more picks: Ravyn Leane’s “Love Me Not” (“It’s in my blood and my veins, great song”) and Le Tigre’s “Deceptacon” (“It’s so fucking good!”). She closed the segment by recommending some Loveland tracks: “If you want a laidback, sexy in-your-bedroom [song], then I would be putting on ‘When I Get Drunk (I Want You Boy)’” she said. “If you’re missing a friend of a partner, I would put on ‘Weirdo.’ And if you’re feeling good and summery and we’re like, out, put on ‘Back in Love.’ Put them all!”
