Royal watchers were quick to notice the apparent contradiction. One fan wrote: “@SarahTheDuchess Time to lose that Duchess title from X Sarah Ferguson. You and your husband are a disgrace.”
Another added: “Two days after breaking news ‘Prince’ Andrew still listed as DoY on the royal website, Sarah still using Duchess on X … but yeah, OK, they’ve been ‘stripped of titles’.”
A third wrote: “Does this mean Sarah will now change her X handle from Sarah, the Duchess?”
The criticism comes amid renewed public discussion about the couple’s ties to Epstein, whose name has long shadowed the Duke’s reputation.
Ferguson herself has previously acknowledged receiving financial help from Epstein in 2011, telling the press she had made “a gigantic error of judgment” in accepting money from him to help settle debts.
Last month, The Daily Mail reported that it had obtained emails allegedly exchanged between Ferguson and Epstein in the years following his conviction.
