Royal Mail warns 105 UK postcodes affected by delays this week

Royal Mail has alerted 105 UK postcodes that they may experience delivery disruptions this week. The postal operator cautioned that there are hold-ups affecting the distribution of letters and parcels.

It normally strives to reach all addresses six days a week. However, disruptions have meant that some mail will not arrive on time. Just last week, Royal Mail alerted 146 UK postcodes about hold-ups in their regions. The warning covered areas including Dundee, Hull, Penarth, Shrewsbury and Glasgow.

Over the weekend, Royal Mail’s air and road services ran to schedule. However, not all mail was processed or dispatched to schedule at their Nottingham Mail Centre, reports the Mirror.

Royal Mail said: “Some mail posted in the DE and NG postcode areas on Friday, for delivery in other parts of the UK on Saturday.”

The postal service updates its website daily to specify affected regions. As of Monday, February 16, 38 delivery offices have reported hold-ups affecting 105 postcodes across the UK.

Royal Mail said: “We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week. In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors.

“In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers. We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive.

“We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”
