Royal Mail has warned all UK postcodes that there are “no deliveries or collections” today. The postal giant typically aims to deliver letters six days a week, with parcel deliveries also taking place on Sundays.
However, as of Monday, May 25, Royal Mail services are not taking place. Due to the Spring Bank Holiday, the company is suspending all mail collections and deliveries. Royal Mail said: “We deliver and collect your mail on most days of the year, including Saturdays.

“However, we don’t usually deliver or collect on public or local holidays.” No service will be available across England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland, with the exception of Ayr (KA6-KA8).
The company has come under fire for delayed deliveries and was handed a £21 million fine by Ofcom in October. The penalty was issued after it missed targets, having delivered just 77% of First Class post and 92.5% of Second Class post on time between 2024 and 2025.
Royal Mail has since pledged to meet its letter delivery targets by May 2027 as part of a £500 million recovery plan.
As part of efforts to hit those targets, Royal Mail intends to scrap its Saturday Second Class deliveries and switch to alternating weekdays.
This will result in deliveries on three days one week and two days the next. First Class Next Day delivery targets are set to improve to approximately 85% within nine months, before reaching the 90% target stipulated by regulator Ofcom within a year.
Royal Mail also pledged to deliver 93% of Second Class letters within three days over a nine-month period, with a commitment to reach the 95% target by May next year.

Last week, Royal Mail issued an update to customers using its parcel services. In a Facebook post, the postal service announced the introduction of a newly overhauled online experience.
Royal Mail said: “Sending parcels just got a whole lot easier! We’ve listened to your feedback and revamped our online postage experience.
“Now, when you buy postage online, you’ll see our most popular options first to save you time. Plus, our brand new Postage Builder will recommend the best services for you.”
A Royal Mail worker explained: “We’ve made it easier than ever to find and purchase the perfect postage option for your parcels. Next time you’re sending something, you’ll now see the most popular options first.
“So, if you’re in a hurry, you’re only a few clicks away from getting your parcel ready to send. Simply tell us the size and weight of your parcel, how quickly you need it to be delivered, and if you need any extras such as tracking, guaranteed delivery, a photo on delivery, or a signature.
“We will then recommend the best postage services for you to choose from. Click on the postage option you want, and add a few extra details before adding to your basket. Easy.”
