Royal Mail issues delivery warning to 74 UK postcodes — full list
The postal operator typically aims to deliver letters and parcels six days per week. Nevertheless, it has reported several disruptions that have impeded operations in particular regions. Royal Mail stated: “We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week.
“In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors.
“In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers. We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive.”
It continued: “We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”
As of Friday, March 13, Royal Mail confirmed that letters and parcels have been transported via its air and road networks as planned.
All of its mail centres have confirmed that post was processed and dispatched on schedule during the previous 24-hours. However, 26 delivery offices nationwide have experienced setbacks.
Mail depots in locations including Bristol, Glasgow, Hull, Pontyclun and Swindon are amongst those impacted. This has subsequently affected 74 postcode districts across England, Wales and Scotland.
The hold-ups occur as Royal Mail prepares to hike the price of stamps in April. The cost of a first class stamp will rise by 10p to £1.80, whilst a second class stamp will increase by 4p to 91p.
Royal Mail attributed the increases to the escalating cost of delivery as letter volumes dwindled and the number of addresses expanded.
