She paired the look with a colour-matching hat, a pair of black gloves, black boots and a black belt. However, some fans were not impressed with one of the future Queen’s sartorial choices.

People took to social media to say that the princess’s belt did not match the rest of her outfit.

One user said on Instagram: “Not sure about the belt, but she looks just beautiful!!”

Another one added: “I don’t understand the belt. It don’t seem to go with this particular coat.”

A third one opined: “My eyes were instantly drawn to belt which does not seem to go well with this coat at all.”

A fourth one commented: “he belt doesn’t go with this coat.”

A fifth one said: “Hate the belt.”

Others loved the fashion accessory, with one fan writing on Instagram: “I wasn’t sure about the belt at first – but the more I see it the more I like it. I feel like it really ties all the black accessories together.”

Another one said: “Love the belt, and the black accents. They give a modern edge to the outfit. That and her infectious smile.”

Catherine succeeded her husband, Prince William, as Colonel of the Irish Guards in December 2022.

The Prince of Wales is now Colonel of the Welsh Guards, the Queen is Colonel of the Grenadier Guards, and the Duke of Edinburgh is Colonel of the Scots Guards.

The Irish Guards regiment was founded by Queen Victoria and has played a key role in Operation Interflex, a UK-led programme which provides battlefield skills training to Ukrainian soldiers.
