Quando Rondo Released From Prison to Halfway House
Savannah, Georgia rapper Quando Rondo, who pleaded guilty to drug charges in 2024, has been transferred from federal prison to a halfway house in Atlanta.
The musician, real name Tyquian Bowman, was sentenced to 33 months in prison after pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess and distribute marijuana. He began his sentence in late 2024 and wound up serving 15 months at the Edgefield Federal Correctional Institution in South Carolina. (He was also ordered to pay a $40,000 fine).
According to online inmate records, Bowman is scheduled to secure his full release on Nov. 11. A lawyer for Bowman did not immediately return Rolling Stone‘s request for comment.
Bowman broke through in the late 2010s with big singles like “I Remember” (featuring Lil Baby), “ABG,” and “Imperfect Flower,” plus a feature on the YoungBoy Never Broken Again hit, “I Am Who They Say I Am.” He released a string of mixtapes, as well as three studio albums, with his most recent effort, Here for a Reason, arriving in November 2024, not long before he was sentenced in the drug case.
Bowman was originally arrested in December 2023. Prior to taking the plea deal, he faced a more serious charge of conspiracy to possess and distribute methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl, and marijuana. Had he been convicted on that charge, he could have faced up to 20 years in prison, but it was dropped after he struck a deal with prosecutors.
“I really want to give an apology to the city of Savannah,” he said at his sentencing hearing. “And I want to give an apology to my family and friends, loved ones, and most of all my daughters for taking all my family and all my loved ones through this stressful point.”
Bowman also remains tied to a separate, ongoing criminal case in California. His rival, Lil Durk (born Durk Devontay Banks) is accused of sending masked gunmen to find and kill Bowman, which culminated in a 2022 shooting that killed Bowman’s cousin Saviay’a “Luh Pab” Robinson. Banks has pleaded not guilty.
