The 98th Academy Awards nominations have landed with a record 16 nods for Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, beating the previous joint-holders of 14 held by All About Eve, Titanic and La La Land. At the other extreme end of things, Wicked For Good was shockingly snubbed with zero nominations despite 10 for Wicked last year and a lot of buzz for Ariana Grande in the Best Supporting Actress category. As for 2026’s likely big winner, it looks like it’s finally Paul Thomas Anderson’s year. The 11-time Oscar-nominated writer-director (with no wins to date) received 13 nods for One Battle After Another starring Leonardo DiCaprio. He’s very much expected to be taking home the Best Picture, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay Academy Awards come the glitzy Hollywood ceremony on Sunday March 15. Meanwhile, the four Best Acting categories look like total shoo-ins, too, for Timothée Chalamet, Jessie Buckley, Stellan Skarsgård and Teyana Taylor.
