Oasis Guitarist Bonehead Reveals Prostate Cancer Diagnosis
The musician was diagnosed earlier this year, but he has responded well to treatment and is set to link back up with Oasis for their final reunion gigs in South America
Oasis guitarist Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs revealed that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer earlier this year and will have to miss the next leg of the band’s 2025 reunion tour.
In a statement shared on Instagram, Arthurs told fans that he had responded “really well to treatment,” which allowed him to participate in the first part of the Oasis reunion. “Now,” he explained, “I am having to take a planned break for the next phase of my care, so I’ll be missing the gigs in Seoul, Tokyo, Melbourne, and Sydney.”
He continued: “I’m really sad to be missing these shows but I’m feeling good and will be back ready to go in time for South America. Have an amazing time if you’re going this month and I’ll see you back onstage with the band in November.”
Oasis shared Arthurs’ statement on their Instagram Stories, writing, “Wishing you all the best with your treatment … we’ll see you back on stage in South America.” Oasis did not say who would be filling in for Arthurs during the upcoming shows.
This is not Arthurs’ first cancer scare either. Back in 2022, he announced that he was stepping away from a run of shows with Liam Gallagher after being diagnosed with tonsillar cancer. Just a few months later, he revealed that his treatment had been successful, with a full scan revealing the cancer was “all clear.”
Oasis recently wrapped the U.K. leg of their reunion tour with two shows at Wembley Stadium in London. The band will return to the road later this month, with the aforementioned shows in Asia and Australia. The South American leg, which Arthurs will be back for, is set to kick off Nov. 15 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and wrap Nov. 23 in São Paulo, Brazil.
