They spent the first two years of their lives trapped inside a dark dungeon – and after being rescued, their heartbreak didn’t end there.

For the past three years, German shepherds Jimmy and Hector have been waiting in kennels for someone to give them a chance, only to be rejected time and time again by more than 22,000 people who have seen their adoption appeal.

Now the six-year-old brothers are still searching for the forever home they’ve never had. Jimmy and Hector were rescued by Miracle’s Mission after being discovered locked inside a tiny room with “four walls, no view, air and life”.

The pair were never allowed outside and had spent the first two years of their lives hidden away in near darkness before rescuers stepped in.

Since then, they’ve transformed into affectionate, playful dogs – but despite all their progress, they remain without a family.

Rescue worker Emma said: “Their backstory is particularly harrowing because they were kept in a dungeon for the first two years of their lives.

“We rescued them from there and they have blossomed so much, but they’ve had two adoptions fall through and they really need to start their new lives now.”

Described as “loving, friendly boys”, Jimmy and Hector weigh a combined 80kg but still have the spirit and energy of puppies despite everything they’ve endured.

Sadly, because they’re such large dogs and are hoping to be rehomed together, finding them a family has proved incredibly difficult.

Their adoption appeal says: “It’s time their lives changed. It’s time they saw the world. They cannot carry on living this way.

“Despite their isolation, they are incredibly loving dogs who adore people. They have been tested with children, other dogs and cats and have done brilliantly.

“Hector and Jimmy are very attached because, for so long, they only had each other. It would be wonderful if they could be adopted together by one loving family so we don’t have to separate them and break their hearts.”

Both dogs have been neutered, vaccinated with rabies tested and are now ready to travel from Egypt to the UK as soon as they find a home.

Emma added: “They’re excellent with people and other dogs and have previously been tested with cats and children too.

“Their boarding funds are running low, so we’re desperately appealing for a forever home. If that’s not possible, any donation towards their kennel costs would be hugely appreciated.

“Hector recently suffered heat stroke, so their medical bills have been exceptionally high. Thankfully he’s made a full recovery, but they really can’t face another summer in Egypt.

“That money could instead be helping sick and injured animals if only Jimmy and Hector had a home to go to.”
