Narnia fans were swept up in a wave of nostalgia as the cast reunited to mark the 20th anniversary of the film, recreating a memorable photo alongside the director.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, which premiered on 7 December 2005, was the first instalment in the captivating movie trilogy, based by the book series by C.S. Lewis.

The film features William Moseley, Anna Popplewell, Skandar Keynes, and Georgie Henley as siblings Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy who discover a secret passage to the magical world of Narnia through a wardrobe. There, they join forces with Aslan the lion (voiced by Liam Neeson) to combat Jadis, the White Witch, played by Tilda Swinton.

The movie was a box office hit, raking in $745 million globally against a $180 million budget, making it the third highest-grossing film of 2005. It paved the way for two more films in the series, Prince Caspian and The Voyage of Dawn Treader.

To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the 2005 release, the four actors reunited with director Andrew Adamson for a celebration, even recreating a photo from two decades ago.

Georgie took to Instagram to share a snapshot seemingly taken around the time the inaugural film was shot, featuring the quartet of young actors seated together on a bench.

William, Skandar and Anna were pictured embracing, with Skandar pulling a face, whilst Georgie sat beside them, also grimacing. Next to her sat director Andrew as they all struck a pose for the camera.

She subsequently shared the recreated version of the photograph, where the actors, now all in their thirties, attempted to replicate the same poses alongside Andrew positioned next to Georgie.

She proceeded to share two additional photographs of the group sharing a meal at a restaurant, with one image appearing more composed before they all erupted into laughter.

Georgie penned in the caption: “20 years!!!!!! we had to recreate this photo in August when Andrew was in London. I don’t really have the words except thank you Andrew for creating real life magic and letting us be a part of it, and thank you everyone who loves the film as much as we loved making it.”

She added: “I’ll post some more pictures soon of our Narnia family, how beyond lucky we are! !”.

Fans swiftly flooded the comments expressing their adoration for the film and its creators, with many struggling to comprehend that two decades had passed since the original film’s release.

“How was that already 20 years ago?? I remember seeing it in theatres as a kid and being absolutely blown away. The music is also amazing!! Thank y’all so, so much for all the magic you brought us – still one of my favourite movies as an adult!!” one fan commented.

“Also 20 years!! Ah I feel old,” remarked another admirer, whilst a third enthused: “I just re watched all 3! Best cast, best movies! Love that you all got together!!!”.

A fourth devotee declared: “You guys were my entire childhood. I plan on having my kids watch the movies too!”.
