If you’re looking to treat yourself to a new jacket in the new year, Marks and Spencer has discounts on a selection of padded designs at the moment, and you can snap one up for less than £65. The peached padded puffer Jacket typically retails for £80 but has been discounted by 20%, bringing the price down to £64.

The jacket comes in two very versatile shades, beige and slate, and the discount applies to both. Sizes range from XS to XL, and at the time of writing, the jacket is only sold out in XL in slate.

The puffer is made from a synthetic filling, which M&S says is designed to be lightweight while still providing warmth. Shoppers seem to agree that it does what it says on the tin, with one review saying: “Light, soft and unbelievably warm…I wore it to work in the snow this week, and I was hot!”

The jacket zips up at the front and has a tall funnel neck and a hood, both great for keeping you extra toasty, but have caught some unsuspecting shoppers out. One person said: “Warm coat, just what I wanted except that the collar covers half my face.”  It also has a relaxed fit, with zip-up pockets and a showerproof coating that claims to protect from light showers (though probably won’t be as waterproof as a raincoat).

I think it’s a versatile option: just as good for commuting to and from the office as it is for a crisp winter stroll or a dog walk. And while some puffer jackets have a shiny finish on the fabric, this one features a peached finish, which gives the fabric a matte appearance and a soft feel.

M&S customers are praising the jacket online, with one saying it’s “extremely warm and cosy”. They added: “Arrived just in time for the cold weather. Ideal for walking the dog!!”

One shopper said it was their “favourite coat [they] ever bought”. Another person added: “Love the soft cuffs inside the bottom of the sleeves, love how it fastens up at the neck as it comes high, which keeps you really cosy and snug.”

Another, who bought it in the slate colour, wrote: “What is not to like about this jacket! The steel grey is a great colour, very eye-catching. The jacket itself is oh so soft to touch. Big pockets so you can bury your hands, and it definitely keeps the cold and wind chill out.”

However, one shopper was not happy with the length, saying: “I love the warmth it will keep me warm at football, but I would have liked it a bit longer. Jackets are not long enough these days. Too short but love the colour and softness.”

Another pointed out it may not be suitable for heavier rain, saying: “Although it states that it is water resistant, it is not at all. I got out in light rain, and it absorbed all the water.”
