Johnny Depp Jack Sparrow return hopes soar after Pirates of the Caribbean latest | Films | Entertainment
It’s been over a decade since Johnny Depp shot his fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie.
In the years since, the Jack Sparrow star was dropped from the franchise by Disney, following Amber Heard’s 2018 Op-Ed with domestic abuse allegations, which he always firmly denied.
But after winning his libel case against his ex-wife, the 62-year-old has slowly but surely been making his Hollywood comeback.
Rumours have abounded of a potential return of his big-screen swashbuckler, and now the latest news will have fan hopes soaring.
According to The InSneider, Pirates of the Caribbean 6 will be a reboot focused on Jack Sparrow’s son and a new character played by Margot Robbie. The Wuthering Heights star has been attached to a Pirates reboot for a couple of years now. The film is said to be a priority for Disney’s new CEO, Josh D’Amaro, with 1917’s Krysty Wilson-Cairns expected to be on screenwriting duties. But that’s not all.
As for bringing back Depp as Sparrow, the decision is yet to be made, but is expected to happen soon. It’s also unclear how big a role he would play, whether as a main character or as a cameo appearance. What’s certain is that many Pirates of the Caribbean fans believe “No Johnny, No Pirates”. Essentially, he is the franchise. So how can it work without him?
