Huge fashion brand urgently recalls kids item over ‘risk of cuts’

Several children’s trousers have been urgently recalled from customers due to a safety concern. The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has issued a recall notice for five different pairs of trousers.

Boden Girls Wide Leg Trousers have been recalled over the risk of cuts. The OPSS said: “The products present a risk of cuts because there may be cracked poppers at the waist. These cracked poppers may develop sharp edges, causing cuts to fingers or legs during use.

“The products do not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.”

The affected items are described as wide leg trousers available in various prints, which were on sale between July 1 and October 31 last year. The items carry the codes G5531 and G4865 and were available in sizes 2-3 years, 3-4 years, 4-5 years, 5-6 years and 7-8 years.

The OPSS added: “We recommend that consumers stop using these products immediately and return them to Boden for a full refund.”

The retailer said: “We take the safety of our products very seriously. It has recently come to our attention that the above products have fallen below our strict technical and safety standards.

“Cracked poppers at the waist side can develop sharp edges, which may cause cuts to fingers or legs during use so we have taken the decision to recall these products.

“If you bought any of the products listed, stop using products immediately. Check if your product is affected. Return the product for a full refund.”

Boden has instructed customers to visit its returns hub to arrange their refunds. For items purchased as gifts, Boden has recommended that the gift recipient gets in touch with its customer service team directly.

The retailer added: “We’re truly sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.”

Shoppers can locate the PO number at the top of the care label on the trousers, which will help determine whether they have the affected items.
