Dua Lipa has made it a tradition of singing a song made famous by the area she performs at every night — and Wednesday night at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles was no exception. During her fourth sold-out Radical Optimism tour stop in the city, Lipa welcomed Gwen Stefani to the stage for a performance of No Doubt‘s “Don’t Speak.

Before Stefani joined Lipa onstage, the “Houdini” singer shared some sweet words about the No Doubt frontwoman. “I wanted to dive into one of my personal heroes. One of my favorite artists, and who I grew up listening to my whole life,” Lipa told the crowd. “Someone who’s influenced my music, my style, someone who I love as a performer, and someone who constantly keeps redefining herself and music. I just absolutely love her.”

She continued: “This incredible woman is here tonight. And so, L.A., you lucky fuckers, get to have the one and only, Gwen Stefani!”

The performance came near the middle of the show after playing her Radical Optimism underrated gem, “These Walls,” and while surrounded by her entire band.

Stefani and Lipa have shown love to each other in the past. The pair posed for photos together at the iHeart Music Festival last September, during which Stefani called Lipa the “prettiest girl in the world.” Stefani even joined Lipa for the Mark Ronson Remix of “Physical” back in 2020.

“We basically contacted Gwen and her team to try and clear the sample for ‘Hollaback Girl,’ for Club Future Nostalgia,” Lipa told Apple Music in 2021. “And I was like, ‘Maybe we should just ask, put a feeler out, see if she wants to do something.’ And she loved Mark Ronson’s remix of ‘Physical.’ And she was like, ‘I’d love to jump on this.’ I’m like, ‘Hell yeah, let’s go. This is surreal.’”

Lipa has four shows left on the U.S. leg of her tour: she’s set to play twice in San Francisco and then twice more in Seattle before a run in South America and Mexico through November and early December. Earlier this week, she played covers of “The Chain” by Fleetwood Mac and “California Dreamin” by the Mamas and the Papas, and performed “All Night Long” with Lionel Richie on Tuesday evening.

When she started her run in Melbourne, Australia, she welcomed Troye Sivan for “Ruish” and Vance Joy for “Riptide,” and throughout the tour has been joined onstage by Charli XCX, Angus Stone, Mustafa the Poet, Chaka Khan, and Nile Rodgers.
