Doorbell cameras serve as incredibly useful devices for monitoring activity around your property when you’re away. They provide reassurance and guarantee that should anything suspicious occur, you’ll have sufficient warning to respond and prevent whatever might be planned.

Nevertheless, they also record countless ordinary moments throughout the day, which can become unexpectedly hilarious.

When you’ve got a doorbell camera installed, you’ll entirely forget you’re being recorded constantly, allowing you to simply carry on with your routine. And that’s precisely what happened to one woman when she believed she’d spotted something unusual on her Blink Camera.

Victoria Mejia’s camera sent her an alert stating that “a brown chicken is moving near the entrance,” leaving her somewhat baffled about what it could be doing.

She subsequently posted the footage, which left viewers laughing. The camera, which was positioned above the entrance, captured the door opening and then closing as what appeared to be a brown chicken emerged from the front of the property.

However, it wasn’t a brown chicken whatsoever – it was actually her untidy hair bun passing across the camera, and viewers were astonished that it resembled a brown chicken so convincingly.

In the responses, one person wrote: “Mine said ‘a black bear is walking down the steps’ and it was just me with a black dress on”.

Another was amazed that the doorbell camera was “so specific,” noting that theirs simply displays alerts like “motion detected” or “person detected”. Someone clarified: “You have to turn on the AI description”.

Others were highly amused, remarking: “I don’t think you understand just how funny I found this,” and “I’ve never audibly laughed so loud at a TikTok“.

One woman quipped: “Girl, mine once said, ‘ A car is at your balcony,’ and it was just me. That’s when I knew it was time to hit the gym”.

Whilst this provides brilliant entertainment and an amusing anecdote stemming from owning a doorbell camera, these devices serve genuinely valuable purposes.

Why is having a doorbell camera handy?

Installing a doorbell camera is sensible because it strengthens your home’s security by enabling you to identify visitors before answering the door.

It can help discourage would-be burglars or parcel thieves, as the visible presence of surveillance equipment frequently prevents unwanted activity.

Furthermore, a doorbell camera offers practicality, enabling you to interact with callers remotely via your mobile device, regardless of your location.

This proves particularly beneficial for managing deliveries or monitoring your property whilst you’re elsewhere. In summary, a doorbell camera delivers reassurance by providing enhanced control and visibility regarding activities at your entrance.

It can, naturally, also deliver plenty of amusement, as this woman discovered.
