Brits ditch big buys for micro-treats to get them through the day
Brits are turning to little treats like ice lollies to make it through the week as the cost-of-living crisis continues to bite.
New research has revealed 35% of us are too busy to take a break or switch off properly during the day, despite 79% saying playful moments are important for wellbeing.
When asked what cheers them up most, accessible indulgences like a little treat (21%) and spending time outdoors (21%) came top of the list, according to the survey by Rowntree’s.
And while experiences, wellbeing and treating yourself remain important, many Brits are putting financial prudence before indulgence.
More than half (54%) of Brits said they were concerned about the cost of living and 27% were delaying big-ticket purchases such as cars or home renovation, according to recent research.
Instead, three quarters of us are turning to quick and cost-effective pick-me-ups to brighten up the day, which is why Rowntree’s has released two new flavours of ice-lolly, just as the spring sunshine begins.
Rowntree’s Fruit Explosion, a new take on the classic ice lolly, features dual flavour sorbet layers with a fruit sauce centre, with lolly lovers being offered apple and cherry sorbet with sour sauce or kiwi, mango and passion fruit sorbet with kiwi sauce.
And Rowntree’s Fruit Pastilles Berries, inspired by the nostalgic favourite, transforms the iconic sweet into a refreshing ice lolly
A spokesperson for Rowntree’s said: “It’s still so important to take a moment for yourself, even if it’s just something small. This is all about embracing little pauses in the day – a simple way to enjoy a bit of fun and bring a smile, no matter how busy life gets.”
