Brad Pitt’s epic Odyssey prequel is now streaming | Films | Entertainment

Back in 2004, there was a film version of the first half of the story based on Homer’s Iliad, called Troy. Sean Bean famously plays Odysseus in that movie, which Nolan almost ended up directing before being given Batman Begins.

Troy sees Brad Pitt’s Greek warrior Achilles leading an all-star cast that also includes Eric Bana, Peter O’Toole, Sean Bean, Brian Cox, Orlando Bloom and Brendan Gleeson. Loosely based on the Iliad, the film condenses the decade-long Trojan War into a couple of weeks. Aspects of the Iliad feature in The Odyssey via flashbacks, so catching “the prequel” will help fill in the gaps.

Troy is streaming on NOW and HBO Max.
