Best supermarket Christmas presents for your pet dog

Starting off with the budget supermarket Aldi, there’s a Mixed Ball Set for pooches who love to run after a ball on their walks. Coming in a pack of seven, for as little as £4.99 (while stocks last), the festive ball set is best for dogs who like to play fetch. There’s two rope balls, two Christmassy tennis balls, a rubber ball, and two spiky balls.

If your pet pooch is a bigger fan of tug-of-war Aldi‘s Rope Tugga Toy (£3.49) could be the ideal gift. There’s the option of going for a gingerbread man tug-of-war toy, a Christmas tee, or a bauble (while stocks last). “The mix of material texture and rope gives an improved sensory play experience,” Aldi notes.

Elsewhere, at Asda, the Good Boy Squeaky Dog Toy (£1.03) has had great reviews. One satisfied customer, giving the toy five stars, noted: “My dog absolutely loves these sqeaky balls; great quality too.”

Another penned: “Our dog normally destroys her toys with hours (if not minutes), and that’s part of the fun – we buy something and watch her go to town on it, tail wagging so hard we worry it might fly off. But this one she can’t seem to break!

“She’s tried everything, including pacing around the room to try different locations, growling at it, whining at it, gumming at it, squeaking it, showing it to us and running away with it… she seems to have decided Smiley Ball is her new best friend.”

The only complaint seems to be that the ball is “too large” for one person’s little Westie (West Highland White Terrier).

Then there’s the more sophisticated toys, such as the Chuckit! Fetch and Fold Dog Ball Launcher so you don’t have to get your hands (or gloves) dirty when playing fetch outside with your active companion.

At Sainsbury’s, there’s Rosewood Cupid and Comet for Dogs Pig in Blanket Gift Box (£5); then there’s the Fred and Ginger Peanut Butter and Treat Toy (£6; £4 with a Nectar card).
