She was flooded with support on the post with friends and fans keen to congtratulate the Scartho, Grimsby native. “Good luck, Alex! Sad to lose you from the Beeb – it was always fun with you on Somerset Breakfast. Best of luck with everything,” one penned. “Sad news for those of us who so enjoy your work on the beeb, but good luck you have I’m sure so much more to give. Be sure to let us know where we can find you,” another added.

A third chimed in: “Good luck Alex! I know you’ll smash it. Will you be on Westcountry?” A fourth gushed: “Good luck Alex! You’ll be fab at ITV!”

A fifth simply commented: “Good luck sad to see you go.” Meanwhile a sixth penned: “Good luck I hope all goes well for you, Enjoy.”

Before landing her role as a weather presenter Alex held many roles with the broadcaster. She has worked as a Travel Presenter and Entertainment Reporter on BBC Radio Devon, an Assistant Producer/Researcher on BBC Radio 3 and a Production Assistant for BBC Factual Television.

She has also lent her journalistic talents to several special reports during her time with the Beeb.
