Bailey Zimmerman Cancels European Tour for ‘Important Family Matters’
It’s been a topsy-turvy summer for Bailey Zimmerman. First, he canceled a pair of concerts scheduled for late May at the Sandia Resort and Casino in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Then came some legal troubles, after he allegedly caused $16,000 in damage to his hotel room at the venue, and a warrant was issued for his arrest on charges of felony criminal damage. The charges have since been dropped and Zimmerman made full restitution.
On Thursday, he announced he was canceling the entire international leg of his summer tour, including scheduled dates in the U.K., Ireland, the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, and Norway.
Zimmerman, whose most recent LP Different Night Same Rodeo was released last summer, addressed the nixed tour on his Instagram, citing “important family matters.” “Everything is okay,” he wrote, “it’s just my family needs my attention and that’s what I’ve gotta do.” He also noted that upcoming dates in North America are still on as scheduled.
Earlier this week, Zimmerman also had some trouble at a concert at the Delaware State Fair on July 26, where a fight reportedly broke out between fans over an autographed hat. He then canceled the show after a power outage. His next tour date is set for Aug. 6, at Musikfest in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, which is currently still on as scheduled.
Cancellations in the country and Americana world have been prevalent this month. First, Kacey Musgraves scrapped three shows from her Middle of Nowhere tour. Then Jason Isbell postponed two and canceled one in Virginia and Massachusetts. Megan Moroney also ended a show early on Tuesday due to illness. It’s apparently hard out there on the road. “Thank you for having my back,” Zimmerman wrote, “on this crazy ride we call life.”
