Abandoned dog has same tragic response 12 days on

A team member at the Southern California rescue said: “Bud broke my heart. He was surrendered here 12 days ago and now spends his days crying in his kennel.

“Dogs like Bud often deteriorate quickly in the shelter environment. The stress, noise and isolation are incredibly hard on them.”

In the poignant video, shared on Instagram, Bud can be seen sitting alone in his kennel, weeping because he doesn’t comprehend why he has been left there.

Following the clip being posted online, the American pit bull terrier – who weighs 43.9 pounds and is estimated to be approximately three years old – received an outpouring of messages from worried animal lovers.

Responding to the post, one user said: “It’s really heartbreaking to see that. Those are the dogs that make me cry when I leave the shelter. None of the dogs in there deserve to be there. It’s like innocent people being shoved into prison.

“Dogs do not need to be imprisoned in order to find new homes. They need more humane sheltering. Enough is enough. Bud is a sweet, innocent boy who deserves so much better.”

Another user chimed in: “Please go and meet Bud. He looks like a great dog who would make a wonderful companion for anyone looking for a forever friend. He really needs help right now.”

A third individual commented: “I can’t imagine how he must be feeling.”

Another added: “He is absolutely adorable. I hope he finds his forever home or a foster soon.”

Yet another user stated: “Let’s find this beautiful baby a forever home! Come on, look at that beautiful face.”

Adopting a rescue dog

Before introducing a dog into your household, the RSPCA advises considering factors such as their temperament, size, coat type, age, behaviour and the costs associated with their care.

The statement reads: “To ensure that bringing your new rescue dog home goes as smoothly as possible, it is vital to be prepared. This includes having your home and garden ready before your new pal sets paw through the door.

“It is also a good idea to agree to your house rules for your new dog as a family, so everyone can start off on the same page.”
