College of Redwoods Passes on All 3 Presidential Finalists

After publicly interviewing three presidential finalists, the College of the Redwoods has decided not to move forward with any of them, the Board of Trustees announced Friday.

“The selection of a college president is one of the Board’s most important responsibilities,” said board president Carol Mathews. “After thoughtful deliberation, the Board determined that it is in the best interest of the College to conclude the current search without making an appointment. We are grateful to the finalists and to everyone who contributed their time and perspectives to this important process.”

The public community college in northern California launched a search for a new president in February and finalists were announced in July, the Times Standard reported. They visited campus last week, but none was selected.

Current president Keith Flamer will remain on the job through next June, according to the board statement; trustees will vote to formally extend his contract at their Oct. 6 meeting.

“The Board remains committed to identifying a President/Superintendent who will provide strong leadership, advance the College’s mission and strategic priorities, support student success, and effectively serve the College and the communities it represents,” the statement read.
