Dirty fingerprints disappear around home if rubbed with 1 ingredient

A cleaning hack has been labelled “genius” for the way in which it works to eradicate pesky fingerprints from a variety of surfaces in the home.

Just when we’ve sat down thinking we’ve done a good job of wiping down a glass panes and wooden furniture, it can be frustrating to realise we’ve left the marks from our hands behind. According to one woman, however, there’s a simple way to get rid of our fingerprints with the help of an item you wouldn’t expect.

Content creator, Mari Parsons took to TikTok to explain how it’s done. “You actually won’t believe this,” she declared in a video as she rung out a soaked microfibre cloth and began to clean.

Mari showed how her solution works well at shifting fingerprints from her oven door, cooker hob and the door to her kitchen too. So, what is the key to her success?

You may be surprised! A bottle of Johnson’s Baby Shampoo. “What a life changing hack!” Mari enthused after adding a small amount of the product to water. “I can’t believe it actually worked so well! Have you tried using baby shampoo before?”

The advice is supported by cleaning experts at The Spruce, meanwhile, who explain the science behind it all.

“If you’re in a pinch, there’s an unexpected hair product you can use to clean things around the house: shampoo,” they advise online. “In the same way that it lifts built-up dirt and grease from hair, shampoo can be used to clean grimy surfaces and treat grease stains.

“Whether it’s dirty makeup brushes, dust-covered indoor plants, or a dull-looking chrome faucet, the pros say shampoo provides a quick and easy fix. To stay on the safe side, they recommend using baby shampoo for cleaning, which is typically free from dyes, fragrances, and harsh chemicals.”

The advice continues: “While experts don’t recommend using shampoo for heavy-duty cleaning, they say it’s a great solution for quick, everyday cleaning tasks.”

Writing in response to Mari’s clip, one TikTok user praised: “Just put it in my Amazon basket. Can’t wait to try it.” A second person added: “I’ve tried it… it really does work.”
