Royal Mail UK delivery days and times and how to check local delays

Royal Mail has shared the exact days and times it delivers across the UK – as well as an easy way to check for delays in your local area.

Royal Mail says it aims to deliver to addresses by 4.30pm every working day, Monday to Saturday. But it notes this does not apply in some remote locations, such as Scotland’s Highlands and Islands, where “transport is limited.”

When it comes to Sunday and evening deliveries, it explains: “We also make some scheduled parcel deliveries later, which can include deliveries in the evening. These parcel deliveries can include Sundays with some geographical exceptions.”

Royal Mail has stated that it does not “usually deliver on bank public and local holidays.”

While the postal service aims to “meet these times wherever possible”, it cautions that there “may be slight delays in some extreme circumstances, such as traffic delays or adverse weather.”

When it comes to public holidays in England and Wales, it lists nine dates where there are no deliveries or collections, except for one area on April 3. With Christmas practically around the corner, it means there are only four public holidays left.
