Avengers Doomsday poster theory – Steve Rogers time travel killed Dr Doom family | Films | Entertainment

Alongside today’s Avengers Doomsday trailer, Marvel has launched a new poster that seemingly teases the plot of the upcoming Avengers 5. Robert Downey Jr’s Doctor Doom stands facing a tapestry with his mask off.

And given the artwork displayed, we’ve got a theory about what it is and what it means for the plot: It looks very much like Doom is mourning his wife and child, who are surrounded by angels.

The woman and child stand over a cracked globe, suggesting that Doom’s world, or universe reality, has been destroyed alongside his family. Given that Avengers Doomsday is a multiverse blockbuster, and it’s a direct sequel to Avengers Endgame, presumably the time travel antics in the latter caused this.

Remember when Iron Man said, “When you mess with time, it tends to mess back with you?” Meanwhile, Loki is now the God of Stories, holding the multiverse’s timelines together as they diverge from the Sacred Timeline. And then there’s the fact that Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers is back, but not as the old man at the end of Endgame, but young again.

Endgame concluded with Steve going back in time to return the Infinity Stones, but he stayed in the 1940s and married Peggy Carter and had a baby instead. What if his choices destroyed Doom’s world and now he has to help fix it? The Fantastic Four: First Steps concluded with Doctor Doom kidnapping Franklin Richards, who can transform reality. Maybe Doom is on a mission to upend the multiverse to resurrect his family? After all, he says in the trailer: “Something’s coming. Something we may not be able to deter. Before this day is done, we shall be faced with an unthinkable decision.”
