Sir Michael Caine has had an incredible Hollywood career spanning decades. In his later years, the 93-year-old didn’t hold back but returned to his roots.

Back in 2009, he starred in Harry Brown, playing a widowed Royal Marines veteran who served in The Troubles. Now retired on a London housing estate full of youth crime, he decides to take vigilante justice after his friend is murdered by a gang.

The British thriller co-stars Emily Mortimer, David Bradley, Jack O’Connell, Iain Glen and Liam Cunningham. Upon its release, the movie was called “unmissable… the best British film of the year” and Caine’s performance is often compared to his classic Get Carter role.

Harry Brown is on BBC One this evening just after midnight at 12:05am and will be streaming on BBC iPlayer fora. limited time afterwards.
