Wimbledon ranks amongst the most beloved sporting occasions of the year, yet many visitors remain unaware of certain quirks about the event until they arrive in person. One woman recently confessed she dragged herself out of bed at 4am to join the queue in the hope of securing a spot to watch the prestigious tennis tournament; however, things didn’t quite go as she expected.

The woman, known as Joyseph on TikTok, revealed she had attended Wimbledon without fully appreciating what the experience would entail. In fact, she ended up missing portions of the action due to an unexpected issue she could never have anticipated.

It isn’t the first time someone has shed light on surprising discoveries at Wimbledon either. Just days ago, another visitor admitted they were astonished by the cost of strawberries and cream at the tournament.

She shared footage of herself at the event, with a caption reading: “The problem with waking up at 4am to get in the Wimbledon queue.” The video then revealed thousands of fellow spectators waiting in line, all hoping to secure their place in the stands.

The clip then cuts to show her watching the tennis, and it left viewers in fits of laughter. A series of short clips were stitched together showing her repeatedly nodding off throughout the day, much to the amusement of many.

It appears that rising at such an ungodly hour can have rather unfortunate consequences, as she was even caught snoozing during a live tennis match. This comes as the iconic tournament presses on this week.

She did follow up with a cheeky caption though, claiming: “I promise I did watch most of it.”

It appears her exhaustion significantly affected her overall experience, preventing her from being able to fully savour the tennis.

One person replied, saying: “It’s exhausting, isn’t it? But 1000% worth it.” Another noted: “You might as well have just camped overnight, lol.”

A third replied: “We feel you.” Meanwhile, a fourth commented: “Such a mood. I fell asleep on the hill yesterday.”

One more also added: “Haha, that was me sleeping during the match.”

Joyseph did concede it was worthwhile though, despite not quite anticipating just how fatigued she would feel.

Do you need to queue for Wimbledon tickets?

If you already hold Wimbledon tickets, you do not need to join “The Queue”, which is solely for those purchasing tickets on the day. However, you will still need to briefly queue at the public gates for bag checks and initial entry into the grounds.

That said, if you’re hoping to secure tickets on the day, there is a specific process you must follow. The Wimbledon website states: “Wimbledon remains one of the very few major sporting events where you can buy premium tickets on the day of play.

“A daily Queue offers limited Show Court and Grounds tickets, which are sold at one per person and are non-transferable. The Queue begins the evening before and increases very early in the morning.

“Please bear in mind that we have a Grounds capacity limit and once this is reached, entry may only be possible as people leave the Grounds for the day. Please do not travel to the Grounds without first checking the Queue status on wimbledon.com.”
