An adorbale rescue dog has been passed over by more than 13,000 people – with rescuers fearing it’s simply down to his ordinary appearance.

Despite being young, fit and brimming with vitality, Goofy hasn’t received a single genuine enquiry, leaving volunteers utterly perplexed as they persist in their urgent hunt for his permanent home.

The two-year-old canine was saved from the streets of Goumenissa in Greece following a period surviving on his own and desperately hoping somebody would pause to assist him.

Fortunately, a local woman intervened and rescued the dog, providing him with secure accommodation while he awaited his own family.

Now residing in a shelter, rescue dog Goofy has earned a reputation for his loving temperament, spirited character and boundless zest for life.

Yet in spite of all this, he remains continuously overlooked.

Publicising his plight on Facebook, rescuers confessed they were unable to fathom why nobody appeared keen on him.

They said: “This is the third time we are posting Goofy, and we cannot understand why this stunning, ‘top model’ boy has had absolutely zero interest.

“He is sitting in Goumenissa, Kilkis, just waiting for his life to start.”

The rescue disclosed that their 13,000 followers have viewed one of Goofy’s adoption posts, yet nobody has stepped forward to provide him with a home.

Volunteers suspect numerous potential adopters are merely scrolling beyond him in preference of dogs with distinctive markings, tragic backstories or striking appearances.

Yet those who know Goofy personally insist he possesses every quality a family could wish for in a loyal companion.

Described as obedient, affectionate and full of energy, Goofy would be an ideal fit for an active household.

Those caring for him say he would flourish with someone who has a passion for hiking, running or the great outdoors, and would relish having access to a secure garden where he can work off his boundless enthusiasm.

He is fully vaccinated, neutered, in excellent health and ready to make the journey to the UK.

In a heartfelt plea, volunteers urged the public to help spread the word, saying: “If I can walk 10km on a mountain three to four times a week to save these dogs, can you hit share just once to get Goofy noticed?”

Responding to the rehoming post, one user wrote: “Beautiful boy.” Another simply added: “Gorgeous.”
