Binman issues brutal alert to anyone who takes bins out at 6am
Self-proclaimed ‘binfluencer’, Ashley took to TikTok to poke fun at those who forget to put their bin out the night before. Often, he’s seen them rushing down the road in their pyjamas chasing the rubbish truck.
In a spoof video mocking these residents, he cried: “Come back!” This emulates the scenario many of us have fallen victim to as the bin lorry disappears out of view round the corner.
To prevent this problem, Ashley has some no-nonsense advice. He included guidance, which reads: “Ensuring your bins are put out on the correct day is essential for waste management and recycling services.
“Many local authorities have specific schedules that residents should adhere to. Understanding your bin day helps prevent overflowing bins and missed collections. This ensures your waste is processed on time and contributes to cleaner communities.”
Even if you get up at the crack of dawn, you run the risk of refuse collectors driving off without collecting your rubbish.
Ashley hammered home his point by mouthing along the words to Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. To anyone who rushes out with their bins at 6am, he warned: “It’s too late, my time has come.”
In the caption, the binman also clarified: “You need to make sure you put your bins out on time.” Ashley’s video garnered hundreds of likes and people seemed to appreciate his sense of humour.
One commenter said: “Good one.” Another wrote: “Too funny.” And a third added: “You really do make my day.”
While Ashley’s video may seem a bit harsh, it does contain important information to keep in mind.
If you leave putting your bins out until 6am, you’re much more likely to miss the collection (or create avoidable problems), because most councils schedule crews to start early and they can reach your street soon after daybreak.
What’s more, leaving it to the last minute increases the risk you oversleep or get distracted and miss the collection.
From an etiquette point of view, it’s also best not to start making a load of noise first thing in the morning. Wheeling bins, slamming lids, and bottles clinking in the recycling are likely to irritate neighbours trying to sleep.
So for the sake of your sanity, as well as the local binmen and your neighbours, be organised and take your rubbish out ahead of time!
