Nobody wants to rehome ‘broken’ dog because of how she looks
The horrific accident left her with catastrophic injuries to one of her legs, which sadly could not be saved, leaving rescuers with no option but to amputate it. Yet despite everything she has endured, Youmi never gave up. Following her recovery from surgery, the courageous dog adapted remarkably well to life on three legs and has since become renowned for her cheerful nature and her adoration of people.
Rescuers describe her as “full of life” and say she gets along well with other dogs too. However, her future hangs in the balance as she desperately seeks a forever home in the UK. At present, Youmi remains in Egypt with the woman who pulled her from the streets.
Tragically, she isn’t even living inside a proper home. Instead, she is being housed in her rescuer’s garage, as there is simply nowhere else safe for her to stay.
Adding further urgency to her plight, neighbours in the area reportedly have little tolerance for street dogs, and her rescuer is due to leave the country imminently.
Adding to her challenges, Youmi is also deaf alongside being a tripod dog – a combination that rescuers worry may be deterring even more potential adopters. However, they are adamant that she is just as capable of offering love and affection as any other dog.
She has already been spayed, vaccinated and microchipped, meaning she is fully prepared to make the journey to the UK the moment a suitable adopter comes forward. Those caring for her say she would thrive in a warm, patient household that is willing to open its doors to a dog with additional needs.
While she has yet to be introduced to cats, she is reported to be sociable with both people and fellow dogs. Now, those looking after Youmi are desperately appealing for someone to look beyond her disabilities and discover the loving, affectionate dog that lies beneath.
After her story was shared online, many people expressed their heartbreak at her plight. One person wrote: “Oh beautiful girl. I sincerely hope you find your soulmate, someone who will protect, love, and make up for everything you’ve lost.”
Another added: “Loving home please.” A third user said: “She’s gorgeous.”
