Next month sees the cinematic release of Michael, the official Michael Jackson movie biopic.

Queen guitarist Sir Brian May has been fortunate enough to see an early screening of the upcoming film and shared a very positive review.

Posting on his Instagram, the 78-year-old wrote: “Our esteemed and dear friend Graham King was the producer of our Bohemian Rhapsody movie – which has become far and away the most successful music biopic of all time. Graham’s devotion to authenticity and detail in our film was immense. He’s now launching a new project which he’s put a similar amount of devotion into. Yes – it’s MICHAEL !”

Sir Brian continued: “We were treated to a preview of the film a couple of weeks ago and were truly blown away. The recreations of MJ’s video creations are extraordinary, and we get a penetrating insight into Michael’s harsh family life and his struggle to gain artistic control. Doubtless all those attacks on his character will resurface – but I’m pretty sure his millions of faithful fans around the world will love this film as a re-assertion of his true status as a wildly gifted and innocent soul – the Peter Pan of Pop !!! Release date is April 24.”

Directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by John Logan, the Michael Jackson biopic stars the late King of Pop’s nephew Jaafar Jackson in his film debut. It’s rumoured that the film is only Part 1 and concludes during MJ’s solo career. The biopic is also expected to address the multiple child sex abuse allegations made against the late pop star during and after his lifetime, which he always denied.

Michael hits cinemas on April 24.
