Queen Camilla was branded “the Queen of hats” after sporting a dramatic headpiece at Cheltenham Festival this week. The Queen attended Ladies Day at the races on Wednesday, alongside Zara Tindall, Carole Middleton and Princess Anne.

Camilla wore a stylish Philip Treacy hat featuring feathers and a coat by Anna Valentine. Her eye-catching headpiece caught the attention of royal fans, who praised her for her sartorial choice.

One user wrote on X: “This hat is [100% emoji] Queen Camilla.”

Another one said while sharing pictured of Camilla: “This hat. The Queen of hats.”

A third one agreed: “Her hat game is unrivalled. Fabulous large headpieces. Love them.”

A fourth one commented: “Queen Camilla & Zara Tindall remind us why celebrating pioneers & tradition matters.”

Camilla, joint patron of the Jockey Club, is a regular at the biggest occasion in the jump racing calendar and walked through the grounds past punters holding up camera phones to meet the sporting women in the parade ring.

She briefly caught up with Mrs Tindall, who said “How are you, good to see you”, and the Queen replied: “Very well.”

The Queen chatted to Natasha Hunt and Zoe Aldcroft, two members of England’s Women’s Rugby World Cup winning side, and Rachael Blackmore, the first female jockey to win both the Grand National and the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Camilla also spoke to jockey Aamilah Aswat, who became the first black woman to win a jump race in Britain when she triumphed on the 9-1 shot Guchen in a handicap hurdle at Kempton Park last month.

The horse was owned by the Friends of Ebony Horse Club, a charity and community riding centre based in Brixton, south London, which Camilla supports as president, that uses horse riding to transform the lives of disadvantaged young people.

The rider said after speaking to Camilla: “I said how it was an honour to win, especially twice in her colours, and she said it was a ‘pleasure’.”

The Queen was later pictured open-mouthed on the royal box balcony, standing next to Sir Francis Brooke, the King’s representative at Ascot racecourse, as they watched the thrilling end of the Brown Advisory Novice’s Steeple Chase won by Kitzbuhel.

She ended her day at the races by presenting the trophies in the feature race, the Queen Mother Champion Chase – won by the thoroughbred Il Etait Temps, who stumbled after the final hurdle but found its feet and raced away to victory.
