I’ve stopped shopping at Sainsbury’s for 1 simple item – tastes better from Lidl

When it comes to fruit and vegetables, Sainsbury’s typically stocks good-quality produce at a reasonable price. However, after picking up multiple packs of one key fruit from Sainsbury’s and Lidl, the latter was tastier and even remains fresh several days after the best-before date. The fruit in question is pomergate, the pre-packaged ones.

Fruit plays a crucial role in my weekly grocery shopping, and it’s important to pick good-quality fruit, as it can spoil quite quickly.

While there are many different storage tips to help keep fruit fresh for an extended period, you’re better off buying them as fresh as possible.

I didn’t expect such great-quality from budget supermarket Lidl, as previously I’ve found fruits like blackberries and raspberries have been mouldy in the store.

The packaged pomegranate seeds from Lidl are sweet, juicy and full of flavour, more so than Sainsbury’s.

I also find that the pomegranate from Lidl tastes good a couple of days after the best-before date stated on the packaging.

As well as the quality and taste, pomegranate seeds are cheaper at Lidl than they are at Sainsbury’s. At Sainsbury’s, they retail for £1.50 for an 80g pot and £2.65 for a 240g pot, 

Lidl only stock a 200g pot of pomegranate seeds, and they retail for just £1.39.
