Dog trainer shares the three ‘best breeds in the world’ for good behaviour

Dog trainer and behaviour expert, Mr Will Atherton, has disclosed the three dog breeds he “rarely” encounters due to their low propensity for developing problematic behaviours. Labelling it as the “best [dog breed] in the world”, Mr Atherton expressed his delight in working with Labrador Retrievers. The most frequent yet easily rectifiable issue with Labrador Retrievers is their tendency to pull on the lead.

This behaviour, according to Mr Atherton, “stems from them just being so loving and wanting to meet people [and] go see all the dogs and play with them”. He assures that any issues of lead pulling or jumping up at people can be easily addressed with the right training, reports the Express.

“It’s dead easy to dial those things in,” he confidently stated.

“Next up is the English Mastiff,” Mr Atherton announced, describing them as one of the best breeds globally.

Characterising the English Mastiff as “laidback”, he believes they make the “perfect” pet dog.

“Last up is the little Cavalier King Charles Spaniel… I think they’re one of the best small breeds on the planet.”

One follower remarked: “I knew a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel would be on there.”

Another chimed in: “I’d love a King Charles spaniel but their health issues really put me off.”

A veterinary nurse expanded on the health concerns associated with a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, stating: “I got one knowing I’d have to deal with heart issues.”

However, a dog walker countered Mr Atherton’s claims, stating that she deals with some “horrifically behaved Labradors”. Another added: “He just proved that just because you work with something does not mean you’re an expert.”
