As the holiday season approaches, Cardi B is leveling criticism against the Trump administration for making cuts to essential food assistance programs including SNAP, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program that will be slashed by nearly $187 billion over the next 10 years. The rapper also expressed frustration towards those who criticized her appearance at a rally Kamala Harris hosted in Milwaukee ahead of the 2024 election, stating that the wrong parts of her speech went viral.

“People are complaining that they have taken away food stamps. Mind you, Thanksgiving is next month. No turkey for some of y’all, very interesting,” Cardi said during a Spaces session on X. “And I find this so funny, because these are the type of things that I was trying to warn y’all that’s gonna happen in the Trump administration, but y’all didn’t care. All y’all cared about is that I called him Shrump.”

She added: “Thank God I wrote my speech down in my fucking phone. But whatever the fuck I said, I meant that shit. Whatever the fuck I wrote down in my phone, I made my research on it so I could share it to the fucking world. Whether I have an accent or not, it went viral.”

During her speech in Milwaukee, Cardi read from her phone after the teleprompter stopped working. Among her talking points were concerns that “the cost of food and the cost of living is too high,” but also hope that Harris recognized the urgency of our economic state. Under the Trump administration, she continued on X, conditions have only worsened.

“You all consider me rich, right? I’m a millionaire. The taxes of living has become high for every goddamn thing, everything has become high,” Cardi said. “Everything been rising up, from the prices of fucking Fashion Nova and Shein to Chanel and all of that shit, because the tariffs are so fucking expensive.”

At the rally, Cardi slammed Trump as being “a man who cares only about making himself rich and cutting taxes for his billionaire friends,” telling the crowd, “Today is your wallet, tomorrow he’ll be conning you out of your healthcare rights.” She added that he was also “hustling” people by prompting them to buy his line of sneakers, including a pair printed with an image from the July 2024 assassination attempt.

When Cardi released her album Am I the Drama? in September, she apologized for “asking y’all to buy my album and this is how the economy is right now.” On a livestream, she shared additional concerns about housing costs, adding, “I don’t know how people are surviving.”
