Penny Lancaster’s striped top is perfect piece to throw on and go

Loose Women’s Penny Lancaster nailed a spring outfit perfect for weekend walks and it has brought smiles to a lot of her fans. The 54-year-old former model put on a stylish display for Instagram as she welcomed her adorable pups last month with a photo of them basking in the sunshine.

She was seen wearing a pink and turqouise sweatshirt with a neon green border on the cuffs and the neckline. Her chic knit appears to be the Free People Classic Striped Oversized Crewneck. The £88 classic staple is made in a relaxed and oversized fit, featuring a striped print with contrasting hems for added dimension.

The top is lovely for layering and it can be worn with a shirt – like this 100% cotton one from Next – under or a loose sweater on top for extra warmth. Elsewhere, Roman Plain Soft Crew Neck Jumper scored a high 4.8 out of five and is on sale for £16.

With limited sizes left, shoppers can look for other retailers with wallet-friendly prices. Amazon’s Teriveek Striped Sweatshirt features similar cut but with a more voluminous and slouchy sleeves. It is currently 15% off and the price has dropped from £11.43 to £9.69.

The Clara Crew Neck T-shirt from White Stuff offers a feminine twist with a floral print on the faded stripes and it’s reduced to £28. Designed in a regular fit, shoppers love the ‘smart look’ and comfortable touch but some mentioned it ‘shrunk after wash’.

Next’s Slouch Fit Long Sleeve Top, £16, could be a good option for those who want monochrome stripes, the Olive Green option goes well with both light and dark coloured bottoms.

The Free People crewneck has garnered more than 400 positive reviews and it has 17 colour combinations, with the website stating: “This style may run large. For a true fit, we recommend sizing down.”

One repeated shopper said: “Started with black/taupe, bought another one (red/navy/tan) and I’m back for a third. This sweatshirt is absolutely perfect in my opinion. Oversized, terry texture inside (I can’t stand fleece), and perfect weight for year-round wear.”

But there was some feedback regarding sizing issues as a customer noted: “Wanted to love this because I borrow my friend’s in a different color way all the time and love it, but the sleeves are way too long for it to be wearable.”

A second added: “Still fit despite having to size down a lot. Normally I am a medium, but had to run down to an extra small. It’s super comfortable and all the colours are cute, despite being super expensive.”
